Aziza Poggi

Introducing our new vocalist,  Aziza Poggi...

Aziza Poggi is an award-winning, classically trained dramatic mezzo-soprano and powerful crossover vocalist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Known for her commanding stage presence and rich, expansive voice, she moves fluidly between opera, musical theatre, symphonic rock, and contemporary performance.

Alongside her classical career, Aziza is the lead singer and founding member of the symphonic rock band Aria Flame, with whom she has toured internationally and performed at major European festivals including Metal Female Voices Fest and FemME Festival. She was also the lead singer and founding member of the metal band Dendura, whose work was featured on Comedy Central. Both bands opened for many national acts. Her rock background brings edge, emotional intensity, and versatility to her work across genres.

In the classical world, Aziza has appeared as both soloist and ensemble member with the West Michigan Opera Project and has been featured in concerts, events, and self-produced recitals. In April 2025, she performed at Carnegie Hall with the West Michigan Opera Project, singing Carmen’s role in “Votre toast” and appearing in the ensemble for “Nessun Dorma” and “The Flower Duet.” She returned to “Votre toast” in a collaborative performance presented by the West Michigan Opera Project and the Southwest Symphony for their performance of A Night at the Opera with full orchestra. She also made her debut with Opera Grand Rapids in the chorus of H.M.S. Pinafore.

She began her studies at Grand Rapids Community College with honors, later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies from Berklee College of Music, and maintains a private voice studio in Grand Rapids.
